I am mostly confused between the builder and the architect; so I have done some research on it for me but I am sharing it with you all for knowledge sharing maybe it will be helpful to you. An architect is the one who is responsible for designing the floor plan, façade, etc. in a house but the builder is the one who is actually in charge of actual construction; an architect completes a formal education with a degree whether a house builder is generally complete his/her education through apprenticeship.
I did research when I constructed my house; that was the time when I researched about the architect builder in Los Angeles CA, who they are and which guy I need in my project of construction but finally, I found both of them are guys whom will help me in this concern accordingly.
1. Scope of work
Architects are designers. The design structure of houses, buildings, condominiums, factories, shopping centers, commercial buildings, factories, and office buildings. They worked on the visual look of the buildings. In addition, they also make sure these structures are functional; economical, safe, and most importantly suit the need of the people who will be going to use them in the future after construction. They work in offices where mostly they meet us; note our requirements, and needs, draft plans, and our budgets, and develop their homework for us. After that or maybe in between they visit our construction sites progressively we need to make sure our contractor (the construction company/agent) is following the construction plan they created for us. Architects start designing projects during the early stages of development. First, need to know out need what and why we are planning to build the specific building. After knowing our needs, they consider the factor of site, environment, culture, and history; which may be subject to local regulation, codes of buildings, local planning, and construction laws. They also work on the budget that the building material they suggest for us is fit according to the given budget.
The builder, on the other hand, is the guy who works in the physical construction of buildings. Majorly they translate the design made by an architect, also the construction process. Such as farming houses, installing sheathing and subfloors, installing roofing, planning schedules, building foundations, and finishing work. Builder is the guy who is a master in construction and helps you in your construction project management. He is one key person and element in the success of a building project.
2. Why we need these professionals
If you need a house you have to hire an architect. He is the one who creates amazing homes for us. Skillfully drafts and designs for us to maximize the potential of the overall project. They are designed as per our requirements and needs and make your ideas come true to the next level. Professionals solve our design problems in 3D. Experts are truly designing, delighting, inspiring, and providing us with a life-enhancing environment for decades.
The builder can be considered the captain of the ship. The one Who constructs your ideal home from scratch. They also perform renovations, excavations, and demolitions. Mostly they did the particular task in construction projects; including on-site work (manual labor) and operating machinery. Usually, architects are much more expensive than builders. Architects help us to find the right material and right resources. They help us to find the best builders for our project.
3. Relationship
Both of them the architects and builders work together to reach the common goal of our dream home. Both are made for each other. An architect needs a builder as much as a builder needs an architect. Both are connected, both are important to accomplish an effective dynamic and improve customer satisfaction.
4. Benefits
If you need your dream home into a reality. Architects work on the design and planning. These people are what we turn to when we plan to build our homes. Benefits to hiring an architect majorly, expert guidance, dream designs, best budget, right material selection, high resale value. On custom homes, the architect consults with you to define your routine, family needs, desires, and goals. They examine site circumstances, do in advance upcoming views and floorplan alignment, develop theoretical drawings, obtain feedback from you (and from the builder), and specify materials. Next, they need to draft the completed plans to deliver a home design that is aesthetically pleasing, functional, structurally sound, meets zoning requirements, can be built within budget, and meets your lifestyle requirements and prospects.
The next step would be in the list is to hire a builder. The one who translates the design and process into reality. Builders have the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to realize every component of the construction procedure. Major benefits to hiring a builder are major; experience, knowledge of house building, strong relationship with subcontractors, and a systematic and streamlined process. The role of the builder is to construct your home as designed by the architect, on time, and within the recognized economical, using satisfactory and code-approved building methods and procedures. The builder orders building resources and materials to fix the site, brings in the drain, water, and electric lines, sets the foundation, and builds the home.
