Ten holy days in the Islamic calendar bring the blessing of Allah SWT. Praying and vigil on these special days and nights have principal value and rewards. A Muslim should be aware of these days to benefit from them and spend most of the time reciting the holy Quran, fasting, and performing prayers and donating charity.
However, being a Muslim, every coming day is a bestowing from Allah SWT. But, the first ten days of the 12th month of the Islamic Calendar have exceptional significance, and Muslims can gather as many graces as they can. In the month of Zil Hajj, Muslims around the world come to Makkah and perform Hajj. There they spend most of the time worshipping Allah.
The reference of Holy Quran and Hadith
The Holy Quran emphasises the worth of the first ten days of Zil Hajj. In the following verses of the Quran, Allah SWT clearly states, “By the dawn. And by the ten nights.” [Surah Fajr]. The actions of the Holy Prophet SAW also testify to the greatness of these days. As a Hadith of his is narrated by Ibn Abbas, Prophet Muhammad SAW said: There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these days (first ten days of Dhul- Hijjah). Then the companion of Muhammad asked: O Messenger of Allah! Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah?”. He replied: Not even Jihad in the cause of Allah unless a man goes out with himself and his wealth and does not bring anything back. So, it exposed the more you learn the Holy Quran, the more you know the wisdom of Allah SWT.
So, the inclusion of the Quran and Hadith in the reference statements leaves no doubts in the sacredness of these holy days; as we read that it even outshines the days of Jihad in sanctity.
Why prefer the reference of Quran and Hadith?
Whenever you hear some statements regarding Islam, you must relate them with the dictations and instructions of the Holy Quran as there is no book completed and trustful in the whole universe but the Holy Quran. Allah SWT says: Indeed, it is we who sent down the Qur’an, and indeed, We will be its guardian” [15:9].
After that, if the concerned information is true, then consider it final and exact. Similarly, as we discussed above, the blissfulness of the first ten days of Zil Hajj, there are specific commandments and decrees in the Holy Quran. Also, Allah SWT reveals to us how to benefit significantly, enlarge the number of our integrities and virtues, and make higher our value in front of the Lord on the Day of Judgment.

How do I get benefited from these ten days?
The virtues are less as it gets increasing. We should not count the limit while collecting sagacity in the first ten days of Zil Hajj and strive to have as many as possible. The deeds determine the thrust for earning the love of Allah we do these days. However, there are some actions through which we can seek the happiness of Allah SWT.
Fasting
No worship other than fasting can bring a man closer to Allah. Fasting (Sawm) is considered the fourth pillar of Islam. However, fasting on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah, which is also regarded as Arafah, has weight-full virtues according to the Hadith of Hazrat Muhammad(SAW) that: Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah absolves the sins for two years: the previous year and therefore the coming year.
Reciting the Holy Quran
One cannot deny the virtuous status of reciting the Holy Quran and Islamic Calendar. But reciting the Holy Quran in these ten days can ensure our greatness in this life and afterlife, too.
Charity
Lessen the rage of Allah SWT with helping the poor and needy in the duration of these first ten days of Zil Hajj. Allah loves those who love the His folks.
