The struggle to feed your child is a real one. They will throw tantrums after seeing the vegetables. They might make faces at every single thing you give them. Some children are obsessed with just milk, and that’s all they want.
After a long hard trying to make sure your child eats something, it is often that parents give in to their child’s demand to eat whatever they want to eat, as long as they eat.
Hence, while we understand the challenge of feeding your child, as inadequate nutrition has implications for their health that then may also require help from your Child specialist in Lahore, not feeding them healthy foods is also not okay.
Some parents are not cognizant of what constitutes good food, and what is not healthy. Many think that if it’s homemade, then it’s good.
However, unhealthy foods not only fail to deliver the right nutrition to your child but also foster bad eating habits. Some foods that are not good for your child include:
Breakfast cereals
Breakfast cereals that are sugar coated are extremely bad for health. They are loaded with sugar, especially ones with additives like marshmallows. Some cereals also have food color added to them, to give them bright colorful appearance, but that color is not good for the health.
If you are going for cereal, then make sure it is something healthy like porridge or oats, and that too not dunked in sugary milk.
Chocolate milk
Chocolate milk is another snack you probably should not be giving your children. Even though you might be tempted to give it to your child. However, they are also loaded with sugar. Packed with calories, this flavored milk is not a sound choice.
Granola bar
Not all granola bars are bad; some have nuts, oats, honey, and other healthy ingredients that make for a healthy snack. However, many granola bars are also packed with sugar, in the form of chocolate, syrup and other forms.
Hence, be sure to first read the ingredients of the bar before giving it to your child.
Hot dogs
Convenient to make and fun to eat, hot dogs also are not good for your child. In fact, deli meat is overall not good for your children, or you for that matter. The way many of these meats cooked then lead to presence of nitrates in them, that then increases health problems, including cancer. For toddlers, hot dogs may present as a choking hazard as well.
Instead, make burger pates, nuggets, and kebabs at home that you can then freeze. Simply defrost and fry to make a quick lunch or snack for your child.
Flavored yogurt
Yogurt is very good for your child, as it contains calcium alongside probiotics. However, flavored yogurt? Not so much.
These are loaded with sugar and foods color, and therefore are not good for your child. You should instead give them regular yogurt and add sweet fruit like berries for flavor. You can also use honey for to sweeten the yogurt.
Fruit gummies
Fruits gummies are also sugar parading as fruit. They are loaded with sugar and food color. The little of the fruit there is, is not exactly beneficial for the child since sugar does more harm than the potential benefit of the fruits. As a tradeoff, it’s not a good one.
Fruit juices
You think just that it says fruit, it’s good for your child, but that is the precise misconception that the beverage companies are relying on. Bar from the concentrate for the flavor of the juice, these mass-produced juice packs are high in sugar.
These juices are then not only bad for oral health, but too much sugar also leads to sugar-rush in the child. These juices pack calories without nutrition, and pose risk for obesity, requiring help from your Child specialist then.
