It’s too early to tell! The anime is still ongoing and doesn’t look like it will end anytime soon. But there are no reports of a 3rd season confirmed yet. However, the White studio Fox has stated they would like to make Re: ZERO Season 3 if possible (Source). As of October 2023, there is no official Re-Zero Season 3 release date or any updates on its schedule. It has not even been publicly acknowledged by the creator Tappei Nagatsuki or the original animation studio, White Fox.
Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World (henceforth “Re: ZERO”) is a Japanese light novel series. It was written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka. This series has already undergone 2 seasons, and people are waiting for the re-zero season 3 release date. It was initially posted on the amateur novel posting site “Shousetsuka ni Narou” starting in 2012. The series has also been adapted into an anime, a video game, and several manga spin-offs.
Re: Zero features beautiful artwork and a pretty creative storyline despite its cliched premise based on a series of light novels. Despite its somewhat hostile reception, the protagonist, Rem, won Anime Trending’s 2016 Best Female Character Award as users voted for their favorite female character from a lineup of recent anime series. She also took second place in the 2017 poll. Subaru Natsuki placed third in the male category.
The success of Re-Zero:
Re: Zero has been a massive success among anime fans. And doesn’t come as a surprise. With both an exciting story and complex characters, the series gathered many fandoms concisely. So much so that it even gained international recognition when one of the main characters appeared in another famous franchise.
Although this is excellent news for many people who love the series, it also means there will be a lot of pressure on White Fox studio regarding its third season. From July 27th – September 29th, 2016, an anime adaptation of Re: Zero aired on TV and was simulcast online.
Season 1:
The first season was released in 2016 after roughly 25 episodes were released as individual chapters throughout 2015. While there were some deviations from the source material [such as shortening some arcs and adding new ones]. Fans generally loved how it turned out despite waiting an entire year before seeing another installment. The following occur only aired three years later, in 2020. So most people consider Re: Zero Season 1 & 2 to be one continuous story.
Although we can’t say for sure whether or not this was true, what we do know is that the first season managed to do an outstanding job of introducing us to these characters and their motivations. This allowed fans to relate to them quickly. Which always makes stories much more enjoyable since they start caring about how things turn out in the end.
Season 2:
Another thing that we mustn’t forget about is the fact that Season 2, The Rebellion Arc, aired in October 2020 and February 2021. This meant a longer wait than usual for many people since most anime take one year between their respective seasons. This means that if Re: Zero Season 3 were to adhere to this pattern and release early next year [October 2021], we’d have to wait for almost four years before knowing what happens next. This seems an unreasonably long time, even compared to other anime like Naruto or Bleach.
The popularity of Re: Zero Season 3
Although this is unlikely to happen as there are too many variables left, it’s worth mentioning that most people considered the second season a rushed job due to having one cour fewer than usual. This could either mean that Re: Zero Season 3 will be prioritized. Or that White Fox Studio might have difficulty finding the resources needed for its production. No matter what happens, though, it’s important to remember that this series has been a fantastic journey. Thus far, the chances are high that its best is yet to come.

Re-Zero Season 3 Release date:
The re-zero season 3 release date is most likely 2021 – 2022. The series has already undergone two seasons, which is about the average length for anime. Until they decide whether to continue with another season. There are currently no official confirmations about any future Re: Zero Season besides its titles. Based on previous patterns with previous anime, the Re: Zero Season 3 release window would be in 2030. The following cour only aired three years later in 2020, so most people consider Re: Zero Season 1 & 2 to be one continuous story. However, White Fox studio only has 25 available slots per season or even less. If they want sub-plots, some arcs were shortened or completely skipped. At the same time, it wasn’t as bad as some people feared.
Re-Zero Season 3 – Will It Happen?
Although we can’t say for sure whether or not this was true, what we do know is that the first season managed to do an excellent job of introducing us to these characters and their motivations. Why Is Season 2 Of Re-Zero So Long?
The first season of the series exhausted the cast and crew. Re: Zero wasn’t initially anticipated to be the popular show it is now, according to Tanaka: “Outside of the individuals who worked on it, nobody expected it would be a large enough hit to develop a sequel.
Will There Be A Third Season Of Re-Zero?
Fans need to be tolerant after considering everything. There is a good likelihood that Re: Zero season 3 will be announced, and it will probably happen once White Fox, the show’s production company, has produced several episodes they are pleased with.
